Vmware Workstation For Mac
. I've managed to install MacOSX 10.7 on VMWare Workstation 9.0.1. I write this totorial to share with you guys 1. Download Mac OS X Lion, extract to get 'Install Mac OS X Lion.dmg' (don't run the installer otherwise it'll delete itself) - WHERE to find this (Just 'Bing it on'/ Google it or find in your favorite warez forums) 2. Convert the installer into an ISO: On Windows, use dmg2img (http://vu1tur.eu.org/tools/) to convert: - Because 'Install Mac OS X Lion.dmg' is actually an archive (in XAR format), use 7-Zip program (http://7-zip.org/) to extract the actual setup dmg file which is located at 'Install Mac OS X Lion.dmg/InstallMacOSX.pkg/InstallESD.dmg' - With InstallESD.dmg, run in Windows Command Prompt the following command. Dmg2img -i 'InstallESD.dmg' -o 'Setup.iso' to get the actual setup file in ISO format. Install VMware Workstation 7,8 or 9 (the installers can be found in our favorite warez forums) 4.
Run VMWare Unlocker 1.1.0 (download from http://goo.gl/oHx8k) (REMEMBER to close VMWare Workstation before): Run 'unlock-all-v110/windows/install.cmd' (see unlock-all-v110/readme.txt for more info and other options) 5. Create a new virtual machine for the Mac OS X 10.7 Lion (64 bit) with CD/DVD Settings pointing to the Setup.iso 6. Install Mac OS X 10.7 Lion inside the virtual machine (REMEMBER to format the disk with Disk Utilities during the installation) 7. Install VMWare tools using darwin.iso that came with the unlocker (Mount the darwin.iso file for the virtual machine and then in the MacOSX, go to Desktop-Finder-Preferences, check CDs, DVDs, and iPods to see the iso content on the desktop; also check Hard disks, External disks, Connected servers in order to see shared folders, USB storage disks.); You may need to restart or logout/login.
NOTE: 1) Lastest darwin.iso with VMWare Tools can be found at - http://softwareupdate.vmware.com/cds/vmw-desktop/fusion/: browse to get 'com.vmware.fusion.tools.darwin.zip.tar', extract to get darwin.iso and then mount to install 2) https://developer.apple.com/downloads/ is the place to download Xcode (latest version, previous versions) and others for developers. Just login with a free developer account. 3) This tutorial is still valid for Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8. 4) For Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6, you don't need to find 'InstallESD.dmg', just convert the original 'DMG' (6GB) to iso format using dmg2img. 5) Always use Retail DVD or Installer otherwise you may not be able to boot the VM.
Click to expand. The first post in this thread is pretty clear. If it isn't, then you are probably new to VMware. If so, spent some time reading about it.
Post the error messages you see. Do you have hardware (host OS) that is up to the task?
You can't learn this in a day. But if you have a desire to learn, many here can get you going. Also, torrents and Youtube can assist as well. Fusion is the Mac version of VMware. You can't run Fusion on a PC. Again, follow the first post - it does work.
To get started we need to download the High Sierra ISO. Click the to download the ISO. Sha1sum: 48757AB383D390E660062D0B1E2ACF504AC93345 File Size: 5.07 GB File Name: macOSHighSierra10131Official.iso File Format: ISO. Download MacOS Unlocker 2.1.1 in github which is a patch to remove restrictions for Mac OS X VM creation. By default VMWare doesn’t support Mac OS X VM but a patch created by DrDonk enables users to create a Mac OS VM in VMware Workstation, VMware Workstation Player and VMware Fusion or VMware ESXi/vSphere Hypervisor. Extract the unlocker-master.zip and run “win-install.cmd” as administrator.
Run VMWare Workstation and create a new virtual machine. Select “Custom (advanced)”. Set hardware as “Workstation 14.x”. Select “I will install the operating system later”. Select “Apple Mac OS X” as guest OS.
The MacOS Unlocker patch enabled the Mac OS X support of VMWare Workstation. Select “macOS 10.13” as our OS version. Set your VM name and VM location. It is optimal to use an SSD as your VM location for best performance. Set number of processors to 1 and number of cores per processor to 8. I set these before to 2 processors and 2 cores and I was getting loop issues when I ran the VM. Set your memory to 8GB.
You can set the memory at least 2GB but if you encounter looping issues when starting the VM try to set it higher. Select “Use bridged networking” as your network connection. This option lets you connect to the network directly. Set I/O controller type to “LSI Logic”. Set Virtual disk type to “SATA”. Select “Create a new virtual disk”.

For disk capacity, set disk size to 40GB. Select “Allocate all disk space now” and “Store virtual disk as a single file”. Specify the disk filename.
You can manually locate the disk folder. The default vmdk location is the VM folder location. Check VM settings and then click Finish. Wait for VMWare to create the virtual disk. Once the VM is created we need to enable virtualization engine in the VM settings. Open VM settings and select “Processors”.
Enable “Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI” and “Virtualize CPU performance counters”. Go to “CD/DVD (SATA)”. Select “Use ISO image file:” and browse for the downloaded “macOSHighSierra10131Official.iso”.
We need to edit the vmx file and add a parameter. Locate your mac OS x vmx file which is located in the VM folder.
Edit the vmx file and add this parameter at the end of the list: smc.version = '0'. Start your High Sierra VM and wait for the setup page. Select your preferred language. Select “Disk Utility”. In the “View” icon, enable “Show All Devices”. Verify if the “VMware Virtual SATA Hard Drive Media” exists. We need to format the said drive.
Select “VMware Virtual SATA Hard Drive Media” and then “Erase”. Set Drive name, set format to “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)” and scheme to “GUID Partition Map”. Select “Erase” and wait for the process to finish. Exit Disk Utility and Select “Install macOS”. Select “Agree” to the terms of the software license agreement. Select the previously created drive for the Mac OS X system drive and then select install. Wait for the High Sierra installation process to finish.
The system restarts after the installation. Wait for High Sierra to finalize the installation. Once the installation is done you can already setup your Mac OS X High Sierra.
