I have a HP Scanjet 5590 that I've been using for years. I upgraded to Snow and now the computer says 'Scanner not found' when I try to scan. According to the HP website, if it was working before it will work after the Snow upgrade - well, it's not.

They warned not to use the old driver install software if your installing for the first time, but to wait until their updated driver comes out late October. Does anyone know how to get this up and running other than having to try to do a new install once their updated driver comes out? PSWatson, As Barry said, you may try re-installing, but in our testing that didn't work. If the upgrade install failed the other thing you may want to try is running HP Scan Pro under Rosetta (PPC mode). You can do this by selecting it in the finder and doing a Get Info command. Then click the checkbox Launch with Rosetta.

If that doesn't work, I don't have any good alternatives until the full solution for your device is released other then taking a look at the third part application called VueScan (although this does cost money). Never upgrade to a new Mac OS for at least 9 months. One year is better. While there is always the cool eye candy if a product is not made by Apple it most certainly will not be supported. People forget that Apple is not in the business industry; they are in the entertainment industry. Steve Jobs made that abundantly clear.

Second, don't expect any third party to have support ready for Apple releases. Apple is a great company but other companies are kept pretty much in the dark. They only see snippets until the actual OS is released. Then they have to scramble to play catch up. HP should at least have the decency to apologize and update their release/upgrade schedule.
